It’s a question we are asked fairly regularly, so I thought I’d pop my thoughts down for you all to see…
There are not really many opportunities for shopping here on Anglesey, most people will go to Bangor, Llandudno or as far as Chester for a shopping day out.
Beaumaris, Rhosneigr and Menai Bridge have a handful of beautiful independent boutiques selling clothing, art and gifts and for souvenirs; pop into Pringles in Llanfairpwll which sells all sorts of mementoes, as well as clothing, food and things for the homeware.
If you are self-catering, you will find all the usual supermarkets like Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi in Llangefni and Holyhead. If you are a little fancier, there is a Waitrose in Menai Bridge (The Duchess of Cambridge shopped here when she lived on the island, don’tcha know).
Larger villages and towns tend to have at least one convenience store as well as pharmacies and these, in my experience, do tend to be quite well stocked.
I would also recommend shopping locally, by visiting independent bakeries or shops like Hooton’s Homegrown.
Although they’re more expensive than the supermarkets, you’ll be supporting local business and the food is fabulous quality.
Happy Shopping!
