It’s a dogs life – International Dogs Day

Assistance Dogs UK shoot around Banbury

It’s pretty normal for video clips to go viral.
Some go viral because they make you happy; some because they break your heart.
Recently I came across a video that fell into the latter category, and since its International Dog Day, it seems only fitting to share.

It highlights how many incredible ways Service Dogs, or Assistance Dogs, can be used.
We usually think of them as Seeing Eye dogs, but they can be trained to be whatever is needed to help someone live their day-to-day life.

In the case of this video the dog is trained to respond to his owner’s distress. However, the different tasks these dogs are trained to undertake can be quite surprising. Some are specifically trained to be able to help their human with tasks around the house, while others are simply there to give their human a reassuring presence in an environment that makes them uncomfortable.

If you want to know more about the amazing things Assistance Dogs can do, read all about it over on Canine Partners’ website.

I’m not ashamed to admit to talking to my dog as though he’s about to answer me back…He, of course, sits there looking at me as though I’m crazy (Meh!)

Our dogs are as much a part of our family as any sibling could be.
